Club Notes from President Jayme Frye
Summer Kicks into gear with big DESMOmaha events!
After a less than spectacular Spring riding season Summer gets off to a
flying start with big events on the first weekends of the summer. First
the fantastic 2nd Annual Ducati Revs Mid-America on Memorial Day. The
damp start to the day did not lower the enthusiasm of the 100+ track day
riders, track school students, and demo riders on hand. A special thanks
goes out to all those who helped put this event together Ducati Omaha
and TrackAddix deserve a big pat on the back.
The following weekend the DESMOmaha Riders Club were proud to
participate in the 5th Annual Midlands Ride to Remember to benefit the
Midlands Alzheimer's Association. With near perfect weather on Saturday
all who came out enjoyed a great ride route designed and led by P.J.
Hartman ( Thanks P.J. ). The three hour ride took us through some
wonderfully twisty ( by eastern NE and western Iowa standards ) country
roads. The DESMOmaha group included a quartet of beautifully turned out
1098's, a Monster, and a Hypermotard. Way to represent guys! In total 15
bikes ran the route from Ducati Omaha to Rick's Boatyard. I want to
offer another special thanks to those who ran the pre-ride Randy Farmer,
Matt Hanfland and Jarel and Shari Jensen insuring there were no new
detours or road issues for the big day. Beyond the ride participation,
as a club we were pleased to be able to present to the Midlands
Alzheimer's Association a donation of $250. Small sum for sure but for
an organization of our size it is substantial. We all hope we will have
the funds in the future to make even bigger contributions. See the
gallery for event pictures.
In additional to these great events your club officers met for the
quarterly business meeting and event planning. Please see the meeting
notes compiled by club secretary Kimberly Hanfland. Meeting highlights:
" Club newsletter - In an effort to reach all the membership we will be
giving a printed newsletter a try. This is a major endeavor with a
significant time commitment from the board officers to generate content.
To keep this going volunteers from the Club ranks will be required.
Anyone wanting to volunteer as a content contributor please contact
Kimberly Hanfland.
" More club T-Shirts - We've run through our initial purchase of club
T-Shirts (that's goodness as it means we are growing) and will be
ordering more soon.
" Fall Picnic and Duc Bark - We are looking to pull together a DESMOmaha
friends and family picinic and Duc Bark (Blantant rippoff from KC DOC.
Thanks guys for the idea, oh and by the way your invited)
Finally, a plug for upcoming events.
" June 6th Euro Bike Night (Lincoln)
" June 8th Sunday Morning Breakfst Ride (Le Peep)
" June 9th MotoMonday (MAM)
" June 18th Euro Bike Night (Omaha)
" June 23rd MotoMonday (MAM)
